 | News: You can make a difference |
UPDATE: Rudolph Muller and Gregg Stirton were not shortlisted
because of technical fault with the way in which they were nominated.
Debbie Love went through to the next round. Congrats!
Fed up with high phone and internet costs? Angry that you
can't afford ADSL? Do you think it's "just wrong" that Mozambique
gets broadband offerings SEVEN TIMES CHEAPER than what you pay in South
Africa?
Do Something!
ICASA is the body that is supposed to regulate the telecoms
industry. Parliament is now looking for 5 new ICASA councillors. The list of
nominees has been published, and included on that list are:
Mr Rudolph Muller (of MyADSL)
Mr Gregg Stirton (of Hellkom)
Ms Debbie Love (of
Antitrust)
These are people who have stood up for telecoms consumer
rights, and we believe they can make a difference if they were to get onto the
ICASA council. If you are a consumer who is waiting for change and
liberalisation in the telecoms sector in South
Africa, waiting for lower priced calls,
waiting for affordable broadband, you should tell some politicians.
